  • Who can benefit from Self Storage?
    Just about anyone. House and garage cluttered? Then self storage will free up space. Moving and need temporary storage then Self storage is the answer Businesses can also free up expensive office rental space by storing documents with us. Many businesses also use us for general storage solutions - excess stock, bulk storage, or looking after tools or samples. Unlimited access also makes the space a useful warehouse or showroom facility for businesses.
  • How much does it cost to store my things with you?
    The cost of a storage unit depends upon the size of space that you require. We suggest that you give us a call on 0-9-379-5912 and we can help determine the optimum storage for your requirements. A price can then be quoted on the correct size unit. At City Storage we have units ranging from a 5 m3 locker to a 400 m3 unit, prices start from as little as $100+ gst / per calendar month.
  • What is included in the price - are there any hidden extras?
    The price you are quoted is the standard rental per calendar month + gst. Our smaller units have a key access. We require a $40.00 deposit that is refunded on key return. There is nothing else to pay. However, we recommend you insure your goods whilst they are in storage
  • Do I pay weekly or monthly?
    All of our storage units are payable 1 month in advance. However you can choose to pay weekly or monthly, whatever suits you best.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
    For longer term stores we offer the following pre-payment discounts: We offer a 10% discount for prepayment of a year’s storage and 5% for 6 months.
  • How can I pay for my storage?
    We offer the following payment options: Direct Debit or Credit card. The first payment can be made by Credit Card, Cash or Internet Transfer. Once this is received we are able to activate the pin code access.
  • How often can I have access to my goods and how much does it cost for access?
    Access to your unit is available 6am-11pm 7 days a week.
  • Do I have to book a unit?
    Not necessarily. You can call us today, complete your storage agreement and, subject to availability, move in immediately.
  • Can I move in today?
    Yes call us today to organise a time to meet our manager. You will need to complete a storage agreement and, subject to availability, move in immediately*. *You will need to bring with you a suitable proof of identity (a drivers licence or passport) and a means of payment.
  • What are your opening hours?
    Our opening hours are 6am – 11pm 7 days a week.
  • Do I have to sign a lease?
    No you don't. You sign a straightforward Storage Agreement prior to moving into your unit. The agreement comprises a simple "no fuss" contract. We will talk you through the contents of the agreement and the key terms to which you are committing.
  • How do I get my goods to you?
    You can bring your goods in your own vehicle, if you have enough space. We have ample car parking and large loading/unloading area.
  • What is the smallest room you have available?
    Our smallest rooms are walk-in storage units of 5 m3 they are 1.8m x .85m and 3.6m high. They are priced from $100 +gst per month.
  • Are the storage rooms heated?
    Our rooms are not heated. However, the temperature within our facility remains fairly constant, notwithstanding the season.
  • What sort of security do you have?
    • 24 hour recorded CCTV monitoring all entrances • Pin code electronic gate access to the building and either key access or electronic key lock on our larger units. • A fire and smoke detection system in part of our complex • Security patrols on a nightly basis and able to react to any alarm activations
  • What's the minimum / maximum amount of time I can store for?
    The minimum time is as little as 1 month, and the maximum is as long as you want/need. We only require 1 month’s notice of your intent to vacate - so you'll never have to pay for storage time you don't need.
  • Do I have to give you notice to leave?
    We require 1 month’s written notice of your intention to vacate your unit. Notice can be given via post, e-mail or TXT message.
  • What can I store?
    You can store almost anything in our units. The only exceptions are; • Living items - such as animals & plants • Hazardous materials - such as flammable liquids and explosives including BBQ or gas heater bottles and bulk Paint • Any type of food or perishable items • Unauthorized or illegal goods - such as firearms etc. • Stolen goods • Valuable goods such as art works or jewellery • Environmentally harmful goods
  • Do you have trolleys available?
    Yes, these are located in the main entrance to the facility
  • Is there someone at the store I can talk to should I have a problem?
    Not always but we are available on 09 379 5912 during normal business hours.
  • Can I transfer to another unit if I find I have too much or too little space?
    You are welcome to move to another size unit at any time, depending on your storage requirements and the availability of other unit sizes in your facility.
  • Why should I store with you when I can use a friend's attic or our garage for free?
    Even friends (and the space they can offer) have their limits, days turn into weeks and weeks into months, how long before it strains the friendship. Can you be sure everything is 100% safe and accessible? And how secure, clean and dry is your garage? Will everything fit in?
  • What do I need to bring along to sign up?
    We require to sight a Photo ID, eg a Drivers Licence or a passport. Once the Storage agreement is completed we then require payment for a pin code access to be activated. A credit card or internet payment at the time can be made.
  • Are my goods insured?
    While we do everything we can to protect your goods we recommend that you insure your goods. We advise that you contact your insurance company to discuss this.
  • What happens if I do not pay my rent?
    Rent is paid monthly in advance. If rent is not paid according to the Terms of the Storage agreement then after 7 days we may overlook your access and unit. If the rent remains unpaid we may be forced to sell or dispose of the contents. Whilst we will do everything to prevent this you should contact us immediately so that we can resolve the matter.
  • How high are your storage rooms?
    Generally all units are 3.6m high.
  • Do you sell boxes and packing materials, and will you deliver them to me?"
    No, we do not sell these items.
